Paul was perhaps the most outstanding example of Christian perfection since the time of Christ our Savior. But Paul did not regard himself as being perfect. In his own words he called himself “Chief of Sinners.” But this one chief desire which possessed his mind continuously was to be more and more like Jesus. At all hazards his aim was to attain Heaven in the end. He was well acquainted with the Athenian racers of his day and how they threw all their strength into the race to win the prize, so he, by the grace of God through Jesus as his ever-present Savior must win heaven. And one of his very last utterances was “I have finished my course. I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness.
Let the same prize be our mark.
